Milan's sinking ship has just hit rock bottom. After an embarrassing 3-1 loss toLazio in Serie A this weekend, the Rossoneri were knocked out in thumping fashion once again by the Biancocelesti, this time in the Coppa Italia. This loss paints a picture of an organization that lost the plot a long time ago following the sales of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva. It was supposed to be a period of regrowth and renewal, tapping into the youth market and grooming the new wave of Milanisti to bring the club back to their storied heights.Instead, this Milan is an awkward and unbalanced squad which includes plenty of mediocre players who would've never come close to even sniffing a Rossoneri jersey a decade ago.Even though it's easy to blame manager Filippo Inzaghi, he shouldn't be seen as the main scapegoat. If you want to point your fingers, point them toward the high throne of Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani. They are the ones who decided to sell a talented deep-lying playmaker like Bryan Cristante while keeping the likes of Michael Essien, who experienced his best years before Hachim Mastour even went through puberty. They are also the ones who created this team and who decided to appoint another coach with no experience in the top flight after the Clarence Seedorf experiment didn't work.Simply put, they knew that Inzaghi would have to learn on the job and that there would be plenty of growing pains along the way.Tuesday's loss in the Coppa Italia highlighted the main problems with this Milan team. They have no ideas going forward and still look confused about what style of play will negate their opponents. Teammates often show no discernible chemistry, almost looking like they just met for the first time in the pre-match tunnel.Filippo Inzaghi will most likely be fired after this loss to Lazio. There were murmursin the press leading up to the match, as Goal.com claimed that his job was on the line if his squad didn't manage to advance in the cup.Even if the players claimed to back the coach, their play certainly didn't suggest it. Time and time again we saw complete mental lapses throughout the squad. Elementary errors like misjudged back passes to Christian Abbiati that were picked off by a Lazio player, clumsy challenges and lazy pressing summarized Milan's performance.Whoever does take over for Milan won't change the fact that the problem is internal and much bigger thanInzaghi. It's a mentality that starts from the top, as Berlusconi and Co. desperately try to cheaply acquire world-class talent that's in the bargain bin for one reason or another. The term Milan class is one that belongs in a dusty history book for now, or rather one that needs an asterisk alongside it with the picture of Philippe Mexes choking Lazio players in reprehensible and unfathomable fashion.Until the club experiences wholesale changes that start from deep within the bowels ofMilanello, don't expect to see the champagne football that was once touted as the very objective of Milan.Read more World Football news on BleacherReport.com
