Chelsea Transfer News: Latest on Felipe Anderson and Edinson Cavani Rumours

Published by Bleacher Report on Sun, 24 May 2015

Jose Mourinho could be tempted to swell his South American contingent at Chelsea with moves for Felipe Anderson and Edinson Cavani.George Bellshawof theMetrosays the Blues are preparing a 28.4 million approach for Lazio's burgeoning superstar, Anderson, who has been impressive in Serie A this season.Bellshaw writes that Mourinho's disappointment in recent signing Juan Cuadrado could trigger a move for the Brazilian, who can play anywhere across the attack.Anderson can also deputise in central midfield, making him a holistic option for Chelsea's squad in 2015-16. His goal record is also good, hitting the net 10 times in 21 starts for his club in the domestic league, perWhoScored.com.Nick Dorringtonof ESPN FC evaluated the player recently, and quoted SampdoriacoachSinisa Mihajlovic's opinion when his side faced Anderson, saying: "He looked like Cristiano Ronaldo tonight."Dorrington also mentioned the nickname given to the player by the Italian press:"La Gazzetta dello Sport recently christened himLampadina, or light bulba player capable of illuminating any match with a moment of skill or a swift turn of pace."Anderson is a typical Mourinho-style player, happy to operate behind the striker and exploit the space in the wider areas. His addition would also ease the burden on Eden Hazard, with the 22-year-old an able deputy for the PFA Player of the Year.In a separate article,Bellshawwrites Cuadrado is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, and citesFichajes.net'sclaim that Barcelona will launch a 24.8 million move for the Colombian winger. Bellshaw said: "Jose Mourinho has been unimpressed with Cuadrado and would apparently be happy to let him go."Chelsea Legend Urges Mourinho To Sign CavaniFormer Blues kingpin Marcel Desailly has urged Chelsea to find a world-class striker and has suggested Uruguay attacker Edinson Cavani. In an interview withLiam Twomeyof Goal.com, the Frenchman said Chelsea need to find a player to share the workload with Diego Costa: "Chelsea needs another striker, [Diego] Costa has done well, [Didier] Drogba also, but they need a third top playera Cavani, a Higuain, someone very close to Costa [in ability] to be able to think about winning a Champions League."The Telegraphclaim Manchester United could attempt to bring Cavani to Old Trafford in the summer as a replacement for Robin van Persie, so Mourinho must move fast if he heeds Desailly's advice.Cavani has often been played out of position at Paris Saint-Germain, but the player's goal return has remained firm. The 28-year-old has scored 24 goals in Ligue 1 and Europe this season, perWhoScored, and would thrive in Chelsea's attack.Despite Cavani's obvious pedigree, it is Anderson who is the better fit for Mourinho with his ability to feature across the park.He is considered one of the fastest players in the Italian league, and his pace would be utilised in the electric arena of the Premier League.Anderson is still young and has more development ahead of him in order to achieve his bestbut the winning environment of Stamford Bridge is the perfect home for the playerand the Special One should make a concerted effort to get the youngster immediately.Read more World Football news on BleacherReport.com
