BB&T Atlanta Open 2015: Thursday Tennis Scores, Results, Updated Draw Schedule

Published by Bleacher Report on Fri, 31 Jul 2015

It's the second round for the singles and the quarterfinals for the doubles at the BB&T Atlanta Open after a Thursday that saw six matches completed.American John Isnerwas one of the headliners in action from Georgia as the field continues to whittle away.Continue below for a look at Thursday's results and the updated draw schedule for Friday. The Atlanta Open's No. 1 seed,Isner is through to the quarterfinals after defeating Radek Stepanek in straight sets, 7-6, 7-6.It was Isner's serve that helped book his ticket to the next round, recording 33 aces on the evening. Pair that with seven double-faults from Stepanek and the Czech had little chance to advance. His domination at Atlanta continues, as it is his ninth straight match victory in the tournament, holding a 17-3 career record.Another American who was highly seeded in Atlanta is on his way home, however, after Jack Sock was taken down by fellow countryman Denis Kudla, also in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3, much to the surprise of the UTSA's Matt Cronin:Kudla used an impressive 80 percent rate on service-break points while winning an additional four of five on the return to keep Sock at bay.He will be facing Dudi Sela, the Israeli who took down Benjamin Becker in the second round in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3. Sela is the player who bounced Mardy Fish, a former top-10 player who announced this will be his last competitive summer, out of the tournament's first round. While his aces were low Thursday, Sela's serve was still on, winning 81 percent of his first service points. The Atlanta Open continues Friday afternoon in its sixth day of competition.Fish is back in action in the doubles tournament with Andy Roddick when they provide the finale of Friday's action taking on Eric Butorac and Artem Sitak.Stats courtesy of BBTAtlantaOpen.com
