Barcelona Transfer News: Pedro Set to Stay, Latest Adama Traore Rumours

Published by Bleacher Report on Sat, 01 Aug 2015

In the latest twist in Pedro's ongoing transfer saga, it appears the forward will now stay in Barcelona rather than join Manchester United.According to Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News, Blaugrana president Josep Maria Bartomeu told ESPN Deportes:The team is what it is.It has been put together. We have the team that our coach wantedit's done and completed. We don't foresee any departures from the team. I've read many things about a Pedro departure, but no one has officially addressed our club. Our squad is complete. The Spaniard is behind Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar in Barca's pecking order up frontand started just 16 games in La Liga and the Copa del Rey last season.Despite that, the 28-year-old managed to score 11 goals and add six assists across the two competitions, which explains Barcelona's desire to keep hold of him as cover.Team-mate Gerard Pique is hopeful the winger will stay at the Camp Nou. According toFootball Espana, he said:I understand that a player like Pedro wants to have more minutes. He's been a world champion, won many trophies in Barcelona and behind three of the best players in the world.I hope he stays because he's an amazing player and gives very good performances. If he does go, he'll weaken the squad because he has a lot of quality.Though Barca have signed Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal this summer, they won't be eligible to feature until January, so it would not be a surprise for Pedro to be sold in the winter transfer window as he bids to make Spain's squad for the 2016 European Championship.Liverpool Target Adama TraoreAccording to Pete Jenson of the Daily Mail, Liverpool are hopeful of landing Adama Traore on loan. The winger scored four goals and created an impressive 14 for Barcelona B last season.Despite the 19-year-old's continuing development and outstanding form, his first-team opportunities will naturally be limited at Barcelona thanks to their star trio.A product of Barca's famed La Masia academy, Traore's technical ability and comfort in possession would suit Brendan Rodger's favoured passing style.Further, Raheem Sterling's sale ensures there will be plenty of opportunities to feature alongside Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino behind Danny Ings or Christian Benteke at Anfield. If Pedro remains with the Blaugrana, expect Traore to be sent out on loan to continue his development. The youngster has shown great potential in his fledgling career, and he's shown he's ready to make the step up to first-team responsibilities. All he needs now is the opportunity that Liverpool can provide.
