Ezekiel Elliott Jokingly Posts Salty Tweet After Derrick Henry Gets 46 Carries

Published by Bleacher Report on Sun, 29 Nov 2015

Ohio State Buckeyes running back Ezekiel Elliott saw an increased workload a week after criticizing the play-calling in a loss to the Michigan State Spartans, but the Buckeyes star still dreams about getting the ball every single play.Elliott ran for 214 yards and two touchdowns against the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday, leading to a 42-13 Ohio State victory. The junior running back bounced back from a tough game against the Spartans and took out his anger on "That Team Up North."However, likely on the bus ride back to Columbus, Elliott was tweeting as other games were being played later Saturday. One tweet stood out above the rest:That is referencing the 46 carries Alabama Crimson Tide running back Derrick Henry got in the Crimson Tide's 29-13 victory over the Auburn Tigers in the 2015 Iron Bowl.Elliott is obviously having some fun, but there's also probably some truth to this tweet. Every running back, even Henry, wishes he got the ball more. It's just the nature of the game.Perhaps that tweet was Elliott's way of making his case for the 2015 Heisman Trophy. Both Henry and Elliott are among the top players in the country, but it is the Alabama star who is viewed as the front-runner for the Heisman Trophy, per Odds Shark. The two explosive running backs have put up similar numbers, but Henry has had 33 more carries to work with. At his 6.3 yards per carry, that's another 208 yards Elliott could have on his resume.Elliott quickly realized the tweet was drawing some unwanted hate:That's just what happens in this social media age. Elliott is smart enough to have learned his lesson last week to not seriously call out the coaching staff again, especially after a wina game in which he got 32 total touches. Knowing that, nobody should take this as him ripping the coaches.Elliott is just having some fun, even if there might be a bit of legitimate jealousy in the tweet.[Ezekiel Elliott]
