Archie Manning Comments on Peyton's NFL Future with Broncos

Published by Bleacher Report on Mon, 08 Feb 2016

A Super Bowl victory would be a great way for Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning to end his career, and that's what his father Archie thinks will happen, per Jeff Darlington of NFL Media (viaMike Florio of Pro Football Talk).I think Peytons done in Denver, Archie Manning said Sunday. I think Peytons done in Denver. He may be done everywhere. So thats myyou know what' I dont stick my nose in it, so I dont know that. I dont know that. But thats my guess. It wouldn't come as a surprise, and the 39-year-old quarterback was asked twice after the game if he is going to retire. "I don't know the answer to that," he responded, per Mike Chappellof Indianapolis' Fox 59.If this was Manning's last game, he will retire as the all-time leader in passing yards (71,940) and touchdowns (539) and with a Super Bowl ring for each hand. His trophy case includes five Associated Press MVP awardin addition to a Super Bowl MVP award, and he's a 14-time Pro Bowler and seven-time first-team All-Pro.He's also a two-time Super Bowl champion, which has helped him financially as well, per Nicki Jhabvala of theDenver Post:Between his playing days and numerous endorsement deals, money shouldn't be an issue for Manning, but the incentives have to make the winand seasonthat much better. On top of his storied career, Manning also has to think about his health. He's had four neck surgeries, and this week he said hip surgeryis in his future. It won't be easy for a player who has been in the league since 1998 to walk away. But thisfeels like the right time for him to step away and be remembered as one of the greatest quarterbacks to play the game, and his father apparently agrees.
