2 Teams Reach 45 Wins by All-Star Break for 1st Time in NBA History

Published by Bleacher Report on Fri, 12 Feb 2016

With the San Antonio Spurs (45-8) and Golden State Warriors (48-4) both cruising, the NBA has two teams with 45-plus wins at the All-Star break for the first time in league history, per Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN Stats & Info). The Warriors, of course, have really made an impression, posting a .923 winning percentage that is the best in NBA history for any team at the break. The Spurs haven't been quite as dominant in terms of wins and losses, but their +703 point differential is the second best in NBA history through 53 games, trailing only the +726 mark that was posted by the 1971-72 Milwaukee Bucks, per ESPN Stats & Info. That Bucks squad sat at 42-11 through 53 contests, eventually going 63-19 and losing to a dominant 69-13 Los Angeles Lakers squad in the Western Conference Finals. This season's Spurs may be in for a similar fate, as their highly anticipated Jan. 25 matchup with the Warriors ended in a 120-90 Golden State blowout. To be fair, that first game took place in Oakland, whereas two of the teams' final three meetings will be back in San Antonio, perhaps even giving the Spurs a chance to make a run at the Western Conference's No. 1 seed.As for point differential, the Warriors aren't too far behind the Spurs, sitting at +650 through 52 games.
