Arsenal Transfer News: Latest on Adrien Rabiot, Top Gunners Rumours

Published by Bleacher Report on Sat, 13 Feb 2016

Arsenal will reportedly make a significant summer bid to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, with the youngster said to be unsettled in the French capital.According to Le 10 Sport (h/t Tom Coast of Sport Witness), the Gunners held discussions with the player about a potential midseason move, but PSG decided to block it. However, its reported that Arsenal will launch a fresh pursuit in the summer, with Rabiot unhappy about his status at the Parc des Princes. Its clear the 20-year-old possesses plenty of talent; heres a glimpse at what he could potentially bring to the Premier League should PSG decide to cash in:Although Rabiot has featured in a lot of matches recently because of an injury to Marco Verratti, its difficult to see the Frenchman immediately forcing his way into the side on a regular basis. Indeed, manager Laurent Blanc has some of the finest midfielders in European football to call upon in Verratti, Blaise Matuidi, Angel Di Maria and Thiago Motta. As football writer Jonathan Johnson noted recently, even when Rabiot has been given a chance, hes not impressed:A move may be whats needed to kick-start his career, and the youngster does seem a brilliant fit for Arsenal. Manager Arsene Wenger demands his midfielders to be comfortable on the ball and technically proficient, areas in which Rabiot excels. Additionally, he has sharp defensive instincts too, a quality thats been scarce for the Gunners in this area of the field. However, PSG will want to keep Rabiot around. Not only is he an exciting young player, but hes someone who has been nurtured by the clubs youth setup. Although the French champions will flex their muscles by bringing in the best players from across the globe, its imperative theres a clear path for young players into the first team too.Daniele Rugani Sale Ruled OutJuventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has ended speculation linking reported Arsenal target Daniele Rugani with a move away from Turin, insisting he has a bright future ahead of him with the Serie A champions.Managing Rugani and the other youngsters is down to me, so I have to do this to my best, said the Juve boss, per Liam Corless of the Daily Mirror. Rugani is and will be the future of Juventus and Italian football. Best not to hurry. As noted by Corless, the Gunners have been linked with a move for Rugani in the past, with the 21-year-old said to be frustrated at a lack of playing time in 2015-16. So far this season hes played just 259 minutes in Serie A.However, with Giorgio Chiellini recently struck down with injury, it seems as though the youngster will enjoy much more playing time. Bleacher Reports Gianni Verschueren feels as though the defender has shown his worth and is part of whats set to be a very bright future indeed for the Bianconeri:Arsenal could certainly do with some youth among their centre-backs. Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny are both fine players and form an excellent partnership, but beyond them theres not much depth in the side. Indeed, Gabriel Paulista has only shown glimpses, while Calum Chambers remains relatively unproven.Rugani seems to be beyond their reach, though. Juventus are a club who take great pride in their defensive talent, and the youngster has all the makings of another brilliant stopper to wear the iconic black and white jersey. Now hes been given a chance in the side, expect him to be very difficult to dislodge.
