Anthony Davis Comments on DeMarcus Cousins Trade to Pelicans

Published by Bleacher Report on Mon, 20 Feb 2017

DeMarcus Cousins is headed to the New Orleans Pelicans, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski, and Anthony Davis couldn't be happier."This is an unbelievable weekend," Davis said after news of the trade broke, per ESPN.com's Jeff Goodman. "All-Star MVP and now getting Boogie. It doesn't get better than this."It's not hard to see why Davis is bursting with enthusiasm on the heels of Cousins' reported arrival. As if Davis wasn't a big enough matchup nightmare in his own right, New Orleans added arguably the only big man who can equal The Brow's staggering production on a nightly basis. To wit: Entering the All-Star break, Cousins and Davis weretwo of three playersalong with Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrookaveraging at least 25 points and 10 rebounds per game this season. But beyond the eye-popping numbers, Cousins will give head coach Alvin Gentry and the Pelicans an unprecedented front line that should wreak havoc in a multitude of ways. Not only are Cousins and Davis both capable floor stretchers, but they're among the most mobile bigs the game has to offer. That means Gentry should be able to roll out some nasty new pick-and-roll combinations and experiment to his heart's content as the Pelicans attempt to vault out of Western Conference purgatory and back into the playoffs.
