Adam 'Pacman' Jones' Felony Dismissed in Spitting Incident with Jailhouse Nurse

Cincinnati Bengals defensive back Adam "Pacman" Jones had a felony charge related to a January disorderly conduct arrest dismissed by prosecutors Wednesday.Kevin Grasha of the Cincinnati Enquirer confirmed the felony count was dropped, though three misdemeanor charges remain in the case. Jones still faces counts of assault, disorderly conduct and obstructing police, per Grasha.TheChicago Tribunereported the 33-year-old Atlanta native is accused of head-butting police and spitting on a jailhouse nurse while being booked. Sheriff Jim Neil told the outlet the NFL player was "disorderly and combative" during the process, which forced the police to use restraints.Authorities said the situation escalated after Jones allegedly started pounding on doors at the Millennium Hotel in Cincinnati, according to theChicago Tribunereport. He reportedly "pushed and poked" a security guard, and remained hostile when police arrived on scene.Emily Woodof WLWT passed along a statement from Jones' attorneys, Timothy E. Schneider and Alex Triantafilou, after dash-cam video was released Jan. 23 showing him going on a profanity-laced rant and telling the arresting officer, "I hope you die tomorrow:"Adam Jones is deeply embarrassed and remorseful for his conduct and language after being arrested in early January. Mr. Jones has the utmost respect for law-enforcement and the difficulties police encounter on a daily basis.As it relates to the allegations, and upon advice of counsel, Mr. Jones will not be commenting upon legal proceedings at this time. Mr. Jones is committed to the process of counseling and anger management, in order to ensure that such situations never occur in the future.Adam loves Cincinnati and considers it home. He sincerely apologizes to the officers, the Cincinnati Bengals organization and all the fans in Cincinnati.Will Brinsonof CBS Sports provided a separate statement from the Bengals after the video was made public."We are extremely disappointed with Adam's behavior. The behavior in the video is not what we expect from our players," the Bengals said. "The club is aware that Adam has put forth his own apology, however, we also offer an apology to the public and to our loyal fans."Spotracnotes Jones is under team control for two more seasons with a $7.67 million cap hit for 2017 and a club option for 2018 at $6.67 million. Cincinnati could release him with a post-June 1 designation to save $7 million, leaving under $700,000 in dead space.
