2017 Budget : Oyegun Meets Reps APC Caucus

Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie Oyegun yesterday held a closed door meeting with the partys caucus in the House of Representatives.Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara had announced a notice of the meeting during plenary.Oyegun, who briefed journalists after the closed door meeting which lasted for about three hours stated that issues relating to the 2017 budget were discussed.The Chairman who spoke in the company ofDogara and House Majority Leader, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, said the House of Representatives and its leadership as currently constituted has been supportive towards realising APC campaign promises.Spokesman for the House, Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas has last week hinted that the March 30 timeline earlier set for the passage of the Appropriation Act was not sacrosanct due to the introduction of a new software in the budget office as well as tardiness on the part of Standing Committees to turn in their reports.Oyegun also said the afforded the party leadership the opportunity to thank the House members for supporting the government and the party.We discussed general issues, the budget and the progress it is making and the fact that the House has been very supportive of government and of the party.And weve come to congratulate the Speaker and members for the way so far theyve been behind government and the party, he said.
