4-Star CB Kyler McMichael Commits to Clemson Over FSU, Georgia and More

Published by Bleacher Report on Fri, 23 Jun 2017

Cornerback Kyler McMichael, a 4-starrecruit, will be playing college football atClemsonin 2018.McMichael made the official announcement with the following tweet Friday:Hailing from Norcross, Georgia, McMichael is a dynamic athlete who has done a little bit of everything in high school, with time spent at wide receiver and defensive back.It doesn't hurt that McMichael has the talent to be a star in college. He's the No. 4 cornerback from Georgia, the No. 24 cornerback in the nation and the No. 279 player overall, per Scout.McMichael's scouting report on the site also paints a glowing portrait of his future as a defensive back in college: "He has great awareness in the secondary, and he has a nose for the football. His hands are a strength, and he is not scared to stick his hat in there and make a tackle."Per Scout, McMichael received scholarship offers from many of the top programs in the country, including Florida State, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Michigan and Notre Dame, among others. In joining the Tigers, McMichael will play for a team that has reached back-to-back national championship games and won it all last season against the previously undefeated Alabama Crimson Tide.Clemson has been heralded for its offense because of quarterback Deshaun Watson, but with Watson now in the NFL with the Houston Texans, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney may need his defense even more moving forward. The Tigers have produced several NFL-caliber cornerbacks in recent yearsMackensie Alexander was the No. 54 overall pick in 2016, while Cordrea Tankersley was just selected in the third round of the 2017 draft in April. And while McMichael has plenty of development left to do, he could join that group in the near future.
