4-Star RB Prospect Anthony Grant Commits to Tennessee over UNC, Virginia Tech

The Tennessee Volunteers added an explosive running back and versatile playmaker to their future roster Sundaywhen Anthony Grant committed to their 2018 recruiting class.Chad Simmons of Rivals reported the news.Grant checks in at 5'11" and 184 pounds and is a 4-star recruit, per Scout. He is the No. 21 athlete in the 2018 class and No. 1athlete from the state of Georgia in the 2018 class.While Scout classified the Georgia native as an athlete, suggesting he can play multiple positions at the next level and lend that versatility to his new team, 247Sports listed him as a running back.Grant burst onto the national scene early in his high school career. William McFadden of SEC Country noted he turned heads with 165 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries as a sophomore in a 38-3 victory at the Georgia Junior Sophomore Elite Classic, which features some of the best players in the entire state.Kipp Adams of 247Sports said Grant had 1,447 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns on the ground going into the 2016 GHSA football state championships as one of the elite playmakers in Georgia.Hudl captured some of Grant's highlights at the high school level:His combination of power and speed in open space stand out, and he is also someone who can make plays in the passing attack. That ability to contribute in the aerial game as well will theoretically help him stay on the field for all three downs and develop into a game-changing presence in Tennessee's backfield.If he fulfills his potential, Grant will develop into one of the most important signings for his new team as it builds toward the future and looks to compete against the daunting defenses atop the SEC.
