Chris Paul Says Rockets' Only Goal Is to Win When Asked About Warriors

The Houston Rockets officially introduced point guard Chris Paul at a press conference Friday, and he discussed the team's emphasis on winning.As seen in the following video courtesy of NBA TV, CP3 was asked about competing with the Golden State Warriors, and he made it clear his goal is to top them in the Western Conference:The Rockets acquired Paul in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers that sent a first-round draft pick, as well as Patrick Beverley, Sam Dekker, Lou Williams, Montrezl Harrell and others to L.A.Paul will join forces with James Harden in Houston on the heels of Harden's most productive NBA season.According to theRockets' official Twitter account, Paul believes he and Harden are on the same page with regard to their desire to win:"James and I talked about the ultimate goal and that's winning. I'm excited to be on this journey with someone who wants it as bad as I do."The 32-year-old veteran alsopraisedthe rest of the team and how badly they want to dethrone the Dubs en route to a championship:"When you want to win you will do whatever it takes. I know James has that, I know I have that and I know the guys in the locker room do."Paul is a nine-time All-Star and potential future Hall of Famer who spent the past six seasons as a member of the Clippers.Although the Clips experienced the greatest stretch in franchise history with Paul at the helm, they were never able to advance beyond the second round of the playoffs.Paul averaged 18.1 points, 9.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game last season, and his presence along with Harden will give the Rockets two elite ball-handlers.Houston finished third in the Western Conference last season with a record of 55-27, and it fell to the San Antonio Spurs in six games in the Western Conference Finals.The Warriors remain intact and are heavy favorites to win it all in 2017-18, but Paul made it clear he believes he is now in a better position to challenge them than he previously was in L.A.
