4-Star WR Shaquon Anderson-Butts Commits to Penn State over Oregon, Florida

Published by Bleacher Report on Sun, 16 Jul 2017

Shaquon Anderson-Butts, a 4-starwide receiver fromHarrisburg High School in Pennsylvania, committed to the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday.Anderson-Butts, who stands 6'2" and weighs 180 pounds, is considered the No. 58 wideout in the class of 2018 by Scout.com. Brian Dohn of the ranking site offered the following analysis of Anderson-Butts:"Anderson-Butts has big-play ability, and can run past a cornerback for the deep ball. He has good ball skills and he understands how to use his body to seal off a defender. He is elusive after the catch, and he accelerates well. Anderson-Butts is smooth, and he is fluid coming out of his breaks. He needs to add strength, but that should come as he continues to mature."In 2016, Anderson-Butts nabbed38 passes for 779 yards and 10 touchdowns, according to Brian Linder of PennLive.com. You can see his junior highlights below:"He catches everything it seems like," his head coach at Harrisburg,Calvin Everett, toldRyan Baillargeon of PennLive.com. "He knows how to go up and get the ball and his speed his second to none."Without question, Anderson-Butts is explosive. While learning a scheme at the next level is a difficult adjustment for any receiver, Anderson-Butts has the big-play potential to one day become a major game-breaker for Penn State. The Nittany Lions are fresh off a trip to the Rose Bowl and the 15th-ranked recruiting class in 2017, per Scout.com. Penn State's 2018 class has been excellent thus far as well, led by 4-star receiver Justin Shorter.James Franklin has put his stamp on the Penn State program and orchestrated one of the top offenses in college football in 2016. Now, adding quality recruits like Anderson-Butts is another step toward replicating that level of play in the coming years.
