4-Star WR Prospect Daniel George Commits to Penn State over UNC, Pittsburgh

Wide receiver Daniel George announced his commitment to Penn State Sunday, giving the future passing attack another important boost.He made his announcement on Twitter:Per Scout.com, George is a 4-star receiver considered the No. 29 player in the country at his position. He is also No. 160 overall in the 2018 class.While he doesn't have elite speed, the athlete does a great job of making plays in the open field and is usually a threat to score whenever the ball is in his hands. He also has great strength to go with his6'1 ", 200-pound frame, which helps him come down with 50-50 balls more times than not.This skill set likely keeps George's future at receiver, although he has spent his high school career playing all over the field on both sides of the ball."I hate being on the sideline," the player said of his multiple roles, per Mark Giannotto of the Washington Post. "It feels like I'm not getting anything done."This mindset made him an option on offense, defense and special teams for Oxon Hill, and the type of versatility that could come in handy at the next level.It's yet another recruiting win for Penn State, which continues to rise as a top contender in the Big Ten and nationally. The 2018 class also features receivers Justin Shorter and Shaquon Anderson-Butts.With several spots on the depth chart likely opening at receiver in 2018, George also has a chance to battle for playing time right away. With impressive physicality for his age, there shouldn't be a difficult transition to the college game.As he gets acclimated with the system, the young player can be a go-to option offensively before too long.
