4-Star WR Prospect Ja'Marr Chase' Commits to Florida over TCU, LSU

Florida added an elite offensive weapon Sunday with the commitment of Ja'Marr Chase.The receiver announced his decision on his Twitter account:Although Chase was supposed to make an announcement at The Opening on July 3, a scheduling issue with NFL Network forced him to push it back. Per Sam Spiegelman of SEC Country, he was expected to choose between LSU and TCU at that point, but the extra time clearly caused him to change his mind.The 4-star receiver is considered the No. 55 player in the 2018 class at his position and No. 278 overall by Scout.com. However, his upside makes him a lot more valuable than his ranking would indicate.Chase has excellent hands and body control that allow him to grab nearly any ball thrown his way. This catch at The Opening showed what he can do against elite competition:While he doesn't have elite size at 6'1", 195 pounds, he's more than big enough to excel at the college level as a threat all over the field.Add in his agility once he gets the ball in his hands and Chase could be a dangerous player going forward. This is a big reason he earned dozens of scholarship offers, mostly from SEC and Big 12 schools.The Louisiana native ended up spurning his local school of LSU and instead chose Florida, a team that will hopefully provide an opportunity for early playing time.Considering the defense has been far ahead of the offense in recent years for the Gators, Chase has a chance to make an impact as soon as he gets on campus.
