Aaron Rodgers' TD to Davante Adams Gives Packers Dramatic Win vs. Cowboys

Published by Bleacher Report on Mon, 09 Oct 2017

Dak Prescott thought he had the game won. Then he learned you never leave Aaron Rodgers time on the clock. Again.Rodgers connected with Davante Adams on a 12-yard touchdown pass with 11 seconds remaining to help the Green Bay Packers clinch a thrilling 35-31 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas. The Pro Bowler completed three passes and scrambled for 12 yards during the nine-play, 75-yard drive that came after the Cowboys thought they had the game won.Prescott scored a 11-yard rushing touchdown with 1:13 remaining to cap off a 17-play drive that chewed nearly nine minutes off the clock. That drive included a critical 4th-and-1 conversion from Ezekiel Elliott, who stretched his arm past the first-down marker in desperation after he was stopped at the line of scrimmage.Rodgers' game-winning drive in many ways mirrored the two teams' divisional-round matchup, during which the Packers quarterback led a game-winning drive in Dallas that was capped off by a Mason Crosby field goal. As he did Sunday, Prescott led a late scoring drive but left Rodgers time. The Cowboys led for nearly the entire first three quarters before a back-and-forth slugfest erupted in the fourth. The lead changed on five different occasions in the final 15 minutes, during which the two teams scored 30 of the game's 66 points.Rodgers finished with 221 yards and three touchdowns through the air, marking his second straight game with fewer than 300 yards. Adams, who cleared concussion protocol and played a little over a week after he was on the receiving end of a scary hit by Chicago Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan, finished with a team-high seven receptions for 66 yards and two scores.Martellus Bennett was the only other Green Bay receiver over the 50-yard mark, thanks in large part to the Packers having the ball for just under 25 minutes. The Cowboys controlled the clock with passes that moved the chains in the first half and Elliott runs in the second. Prescott completed 25 of his 36 passes for 251 yards and three scores, with Jason Witten coming in with a team-high eight grabs for 61 yards. Dez Bryant caught a touchdown pass and Cole Beasley hauled in a pair.Elliott finished with 116 yards on 29 carries, his first time over the 100-yard mark since Week 1. Aaron Jones, starting in place of an injured Ty Montgomery, rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown to make the most of his opportunity. The Cowboys now head into their bye week two full games behind the Philadelphia Eagles for first place in the NFC East. They'll return to play the San Francisco 49ers on Oct. 22.The Packers travel to Minnesota to play the rival Vikings next Sunday.
