43-Year-Old Simeon Rice Says He Can Help Buccaneers Reach Playoffs

Former All-Pro defensive end Simeon Rice would welcome a return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to help them reach the playoffs in 2017.Rice posted a video of himself working out on Twitter indicating he's ready, and thatif the Buccaneers want to dominate, they "will call the dominator."Rice then sent a Twitter message to ESPN's Jenna Laine, saying "believe it or not I can get them to the playoffs."Speaking to Laine directly about helping the Buccaneers, he said the team needs help on the defensive line if it wants to climb out of the NFC South cellar."If they want a pass-rusher, they should bring in a pass-rusher extraordinaire who was one of the dominant pass-rushers of any era," RicetoldLaine. "What is it going to cost' You don't have one."Rice, who is 43 years old, hasn't played in the NFL since 2007. He had a successful 12-year career with four teams including the Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts.The Bucs have struggled to develop a pass rush this season. They rank last in the NFL with seven sacks and has placed four defensive linemen, includingStevie Tu'ikolovatu, Noah Spence andJustin Trattou, on injured reserve.Rice's greatest success in the NFL came in his six seasons with the Buccaneers. He recorded 69.5 sacks and 19 forced fumbles in 87 games from 2001-06 and won a Super Bowl in 2002.
