12 killed in Yobe mosque attack 'Residents confirm another attack on Shi'ite women

TRAGEDY struck at a mosque in Potiskum, Yobe State, when a suicide bomber killed himself and 11 others, as well as injuring 37 people.The incident happened at a Shi'ate Muslim Mosque, referred to as Alkali Kalli Mosque, near the palace of the Emir of Fika, Potiskum.A medical doctor at the General Hospital, Potiskum, who did not want his name in print, told newsmen that 11 corpses and 37 wounded person were brought to the hospital as a result of the attack.Residents also told newsmen that there was another suicide attack at a Majalisa, where Shi'ite Muslims were located at one of the primary schools in Potiskum.A resident, Malam Sani Alkali Potiskum, said the mosque was completely destroyed, adding that many people were confirmed dead in the incident.He put the figure of the casualty from the attack on the mosque as well as the Majalisa at 55, adding that the hospital perhaps gave the casualty figure of the incident at the mosque.'We are under attack by some elements who did not mean well to everybody, including themselves. It pains me when I hear some of our leaders defending the Boko Haram,' he said.
