AWC: Play with your hearts, Pinnick tells Falcons

PRESIDENT of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr Amaju Pinnick has charged the Super Falcons, to play with all their hearts when confronting the Banyana Banyana of South Africa today, in the semi-final of the ninth African Women's Championship (AWC) in Namibia.Victory over South Africa today will also guarantee Nigeria a place in the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup finals in Canada.'I am truly impressed with the way the team has played in the tournament and they have no doubt, made Nigerians happy. Now, they have come to a point where they cannot afford to make any mistakes.'Against South Africa, we have to be close to perfection. The rivalry between the two countries will make the match more competitive. So, we have to be at our best. Our girls must play with their hearts,' Pinnick said....Keep the flag flying 'Glo Nigeria's women soccer senior national team, the Super Falcons have been urged to work towards reclaiming the African Women's Championship (AWC) trophy as they face the Banyana Banyana of South Africa today in the semi-final of the competition in Namibia.National telecoms operator, Globacom, in a press statement in Lagos on Tuesday, commended the team for its outstanding performances by defeating all its group opponents (Cote d'Ivoire, Zambia and host, Namibia), thus amassing nine maximum points and qualifying for the semi-finals in the process.Globacom advised the team not to rest on its oars as it faces South Africa today, adding that the players should concentrate and play with determination to qualify for the final.The Super Falcons have won six of the eight AWC tournaments since its inception in 1998.Speaking on the encounter, coach Edwin Okon stated that the Super Falcons will not let Nigerians down.'The team is ready and will face the South Africans with all determination, we will play mass attack and mass defence to combat the Banyana Banyana fully,' he said.
