1,565 stolen cows recovered from Fulani cattle rustlers

ZAMFARA State Peace and Reconciliation Committee has said it is in custody of over 1,000 stolen cows recovered from the Fulani cattle rustlers by the army deployed to the state to end the incessant cattle rustling which has ravaged the state in recent times.This was disclosed by a member of the committee, Mallam Bello Gidado Gummi, in Maradun town, the headquarters of Maradun Local Government Area of the state.He said the stolen animals were recovered from the hoodlums after the army launched series of attacks at the hideouts of the cattle rustlers between October 25 and 29.Gummi added that following these attacks in Maradun, Gora, Janbako, Mayanci, and Trijanya, the army handed over to the committee, 1,565 cows, 551 sheep and 20 goats.He lauded the efforts of the Nigerian Army in maintaining peace in the state, noting that the state is now enjoying relative peace.'The soldiers have chased the hoodlums out of Zamfara territory. What is happening now is only the stubborn ones are still around,' he declared.He implored those who lost their animals as a result of these attacks to come forward and identify their animals.
