At 78, I design computer software for banks ' Hafiz Wali

Malam Hafiz Suleiman Wali, born in the ancient city of Kano in 1936, hails from the famous Wali family. His father was an Attorney General in the palace of the Emirof Kano, but he died when Malam Wali was only three-and-a-half years old. By implication, this younger Wali was brought up by his mother, the late Saudatu, herself an Islamic teacher. She earned the honorary name, Umman-Makaranta, because Saudatu taught many people who later became famous in Kano, among them the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.Malam Wali, 78, is a renowned educationist who has taught all his life. He is one of the proponents of education through distance learning. Now retired, the Septuagenarian, has ventured into the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) world - he's now a consultant systems analyst. In this interview, Malam Wali gave an insight into his life in retirement. Excerpts:
