600 players storm Golden Eaglets camp

by Shehu BelloGolden Eaglets coach, Emmanuel Amunike had his job cut out for him on Sunday and Monday after more than 600 youngsters stormed the teams open camp in Abuja.The former Super Eagles winger had decided to give new players a trial ahead of the teams participation in the African cadet championship scheduled to hold in Niger Republic next year. However, the turnout of players exceeded the expectation of the coach, but he ex-pressed delight at the enthusi-asm shown by those that came for the screening exercise stating that the country is indeed blessed with budding football talent. It is good we are starting right away and todays session has been very good because it gave us the opportunity to see some equally young talent. We knew all along that it is not going to be easy but hard work doesnt kill anybody and Im positive that the screening would throw up some fresh talent for the team, Amunike said. The screening exercise will continue for the rest of the week. The Golden Eaglets cur-rently hold the FIFA U-17 title following the teams heroics at the world cadet championship in the UAE in 2013.
