A Nigerian national, Stanley Abayeneme, is facing prosecution in Ireland for allegedly attacking his neighbour following claims of rabid racismAbayeneme, who runs a car valeting business in Dublin, has been refused an interim injunction in the High Court seeking to restrain a neighbouring businessman from directing racist abuse at him, Irish news outlet, Sunday World reported on Saturday, August 23, 2025.Abayeneme had told the High Court he had suffered racial abuse from Lithuanian national and neighbouring businessman, Vilmantas Zutkis, in the form of monkey grunts, shouts of monkey at him and the leaving of bananas outside his car valeting unit in Tallaght.Abayeneme also failed in applying for an injunction against John McLaughlin, landlord to both businessmen, of Coolfadda House, Laurel Walk, Bandon, Co Cork, who, he claimed, had locked him out of his car cleaning business by parking a 40-foot steel container in front of it.Ms Justice Emily Egan, after viewing a video of Abayeneme attacking Zutkis in April last, told barrister Damien Conroy, counsel for McLoughlin, that Mr Abayeneme in his written evidence to the court had claimed violence had been directed only at him.Judge Egan said it was her view Mr Abayeneme had not come to court with clean hands and refused him restraining injunctions.Mr Conroy, who appeared with Dillon Eustace Solicitors for the landlord, said Mr McLoughlin had blocked Mr Abayenemes access to his unit after having served him with a notice to quit.He said Mr McLoughlin was prepared to allow him back into his unit, under observation, to remove any assets he may claim to own.Barrister Femi Daniyan, who appeared with Waheed Mudah of Kevin Tunney Solicitors, Tallaght, for Abayeneme last week in the absence of both Zutkis and McLoughlin, told the court his client rented Unit 2 Greenhills Bungalows, Blessington Road, Tallaght, from McLoughlin and Zutkis rented the adjoining Unit 1 for his car servicing business.Abayeneme, had told the court in an affidavit that Zutkiss conduct was aggressive and obstructive and included direct racial abuse of him in front of his customers, threats to his employee and interference to footfall with his business. He will come to my unit and racially abuse me and my worker, John Onuigbo Obinna, calling us monkeys, placing bananas in front of our shop and threatening us with deportation back to Nigeria in a container, Abayeneme stated. He said he had been burgled and had lost 200,000 worth of cash and stock.Dillon Eustace Solicitors had stated in a letter of August 5 last that Mr McLoughlin had video evidence of Abayeneme attacking Zutkis with a stick and visibly breaking it on his leg; throwing a ladder at Mr Zutkis and damaging property by spray-painting windows. That video was viewed by Judge Egan on Saturday. The court heard Abayene was facing prosecution for allegedly breaking two windows in his neighbour's unit. Although he was refused injunctions today, the overall proceedings will return before the court this week.Further investigation by LIB revealed that Abayeneme suffered serious injuries in 2019 after being attacked by three men in what he described as a racially motivated assault.Abayeneme, then, 22, was washing a car at the rear of an industrial unit on the Blessington Road on the outskirts of Tallaght at around 6pm on Tuesday when he was set upon by three men who arrived at the premises. He was apparently attacked with large tools and beaten about the head and body and left unconscious on the ground. Speaking from his bed at Tallaght Hospital, Mr Abayeneme, told of the sequence of events that led to him fearing he would be killed."My car wash is beside another garage, and a customer I knew had a car in that garage," he said."While he was talking to the garage owner, three men came out into the yard where I work and one of them started urinating. I told him he could not do that and then he got really angry and started to racially abuse me.He was calling me a black monkey and saying I should f**k off back to where I came from. He was shouting abuse at me, saying we were taking jobs and food while we are here. The post Nigerian man faces trial in Ireland for attacking neighbour who allegedly leaves bananas outside his office and makes monkey gestures at him appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
