<blockquote>A rape victim has encouraged other victims to report incidents of sexual assault after her attacker was jailed.<br><br><b>Segun 'Michael' Ogundipe, 33, of Tuffley Lane in Gloucester, raped and sexually assaulted her in 2022.</b><br><br><b>He was jailed for five years at Gloucester Crown Court on 21 July</b>.<br><br>In a statement read out to the court, the victim said: "It doesn't matter if you feel ashamed or if you feel you are somehow to blame. You will be believed and supported."<br><br>She said to Ogundipe: "It is still crazy to me to think how your words and your actions have made me question my worth entirely.<br><br>"Some days what you did to me plays over and over in my head. What you did was vile and one of the worst things you could do to someone.<br><br>"I spent so long believing that I must have deserved what you did to me but I know now that you had no right to the rights of my body."<br><br>The court heard that in 2022, <b>Mr Ogundipe met the woman at her place of work and asked her to go out for a drink with him.</b><br><br><b>She agreed and arranged to meet him after work the next day, texting him beforehand to make it clear that she was just getting to know him.</b><br><br>The following evening, <b>Mr Ogundipe picked the woman up in his car and they went to a bar</b>.<br><br><b>Throughout the course of the night Mr Ogundipe began to sexualise the conversation</b>, which she said made her feel uncomfortable.<br><br><b>Deportation order</b><br><br>The 33-year-old then suggested he drive them to a different location, but stopped at his house saying he needed to pick something up.<br><br><b>The victim needed to use the toilet and after she left the bathroom, Ogundipe sexually assaulted her and raped her.</b><br><br><b>After the attack he drove towards Cheltenham with the victim, but was pulled over by police after they saw him driving erratically.<br><br>The victim was able to get out of the car and tell officers he had raped her.</b><br><br>Ogundipe was arrested on suspicion of rape and taken into custody where he was subsequently charged with two counts of sexual assault, assault by penetration and rape.<br><br>He denied the offences but was found guilty at trial.<br><br>Ogundipe, who was born in Nigera, faces a deportation order when he is released, after coming to the UK to study in 2021.</blockquote><br><a rel=ugc href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c3r4l79dd48o">https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c3r4l79dd48o</a><br><br>UK Based 33 Yr Old Nigerian Man Sentenced To 5 Yrs For Rape
