AHEAD 2012, BMW has unveiled an improved version of the sensational X3 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), blazing the trail for more luxury and safety innovations.Major highlights of the X3 Sports include the latest iDrive electronics coupled with reinforced suspension designed for all road conditions.The X3 adaptive suspension, according to BMW, allows drivers to select from three different modes, calibrating suspension, throttle, transmission and stability control settings.Available in Nigeria in 2.8 and 3.5 litre engines, X3 is a five-passenger compact luxury crossover SUV available in two trim levels.Unveiling the new X3 on Wednesday, Coscharis Motors, representative of BMW in Nigeria, explained that the X3 Sport was specially produced to deal with all roads conditions.President, Coscharis Group, Dr. Cosmos Maduka, in his speech delivered by the Group Managing Director, Mr. Josiah Samuel said BMW X family is now complete, adding 'We celebrate the ongoing 'Story of Joy' by welcoming the new BMW X3.Explaining further, Maduka said the new BMW X3 is the perfect car for any occasion, pointing out that 'No competitor currently offers more features and functions. It is active, sporty, flexible and agile.'Maduka, who took time to explain the various features behind the improved X3, highlighted features and functions that enable it to deliver increased versatility and advanced driving dynamics.He said, 'BMW Efficient Dynamics makes driving an even greater joy. Improved driving dynamics are tuned to deliver lower fuel consumption and minimise the use of resources.'BMW Efficient Dynamics has made driving pleasure fit for the future and environmentally responsible. Featuring a spacious interior for up to five passengers ' or highly-flexible loading options ' the new BMW X3 is as versatile as you need it to be.'The intelligent storage concept (40:20:40-split rear seat backrest) includes numerous open and closed storage areas, large side compartments in the door trims and cup holders in the centre console. The new BMW X3 offers an inimitable ride in any situation, thanks to Driving Dynamics Control and Dynamic Damper Control,' said MadukaHe identified some basic attributes behind the BMW X3 as its athletic agility, which is 'highlighted by striking modern contours.''Its external dimensions have grown noticeably larger ' meaning greater comfort in the roomy interior. The interior is streamlined and modern: High-grade materials and a wide range of expressive colours with a huge array of combination options leave you plenty of room to express your individuality,' said MadukaProminent features include alloy wheels, automatic headlights, fog lights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, eight-way power front seats, a tilt-and-telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel, leatherette (premium vinyl) upholstery, automatic climate control among others.According to available information, the xDrive35i has the capacity to accelerate from zero to 97 Km/h in 5.6 seconds, a development, which is regarded a major achievement.In terms of safety, the X3 standard safety equipment includes antilock disc brakes, automatic brake drying, airbags, active front-seat head restraints, stability control, hill descent control among others.
