Its sad, really.Week 17 represents the final full-slate NFL Sunday that fans will have until September 2015. We will have to acknowledge the presence of family members, friends and that thing called the sun fairly soon, which means you better take advantage of some betting opportunities in Week 17.One of those opportunities comes in the form of the over/under lines. With that in mind, here is a prediction for every game, as well as a list of the over/unders.The over/under lines are courtesy of Odds Shark, as of 11:30 a.m. ET Saturday.Take the Over: Carolina Panthers at Atlanta FalconsThe over/under line for the NFC South title game between the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons is 47.5.The Panthers offense looked more formidable in Week 16 than it has in the past thanks to the return of Cam Newton. Newton threw for 201 yards and a touchdown and ran for 63 yards and a score and finally looks more comfortable moving the chains with his legs. That adds an extra dimension to the offense that hasnt been there all season.Jonathan Stewart has also been the top running back in the league the past four weeks with an NFL-best 437 rushing yards. Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer and Panthers PR also had some good news for Stewart fans:Carolina isnt the only offense bringing impressive players to the table. Atlanta wide receiver Julio Jones torched the New Orleans Saints for 107 receiving yardsin Week 16 and has 1,535 on the season. The Falcons are ninth in the NFL in scoring offense and fifth in passing yards per game, while Carolina is eighth in rushing yards per game. Still, the defenses are the main reason you should take the over in this one. Carolina is a measly 22nd in the league in scoring defense, while Atlanta is 25th. The Falcons are also dead last in the league against the pass. With players such as Stewart, Newton, Matt Ryan, Jones and Roddy White going up against vulnerable defenses, there should be plenty of points in this one. Respond accordingly and take the over.Take the Under: Detroit Lions at Green Bay PackersThe over/under line of 47 is a fairly high number for the showdown between the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions, as it features one of the best defenses in the league against an underrated defensive group. The winner will capture the NFC North title and a first-round bye in the playoffs. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers understands how difficult it will be to score in this high-stakes clash, according to STATS LLC, via ESPN.com:"You just know it's going to be a game where you have to be very efficient throwing the ball, and you have to look for those opportunities for extended plays in the run game and the pass game. These two teams already played once this season, and it was a defensive slugfestthe Lions won 19-7. They held Rodgers and the mighty Packers offense to 223 total yards, which is not a surprise, considering Detroit is second in the NFL in total defense and scoring defense. It is also best in the league against the run.The Packers may be one of the best offenses in the league, but everyone has difficulty putting up points against the Lions. On the other side, Detroits offense is only 20th in the league on the road, largely because quarterback Matthew Stafford has posted a 72.8 rating away from Detroit. He also has four interceptions and zero touchdowns in the last three road games. To make matters worse for the offense, center Dominic Raiola will miss the contest because he is suspended for stomping on Chicago defensive tackle Ego Ferguson after the play. Stafford will be playing with a different center (Travis Swanson) for the first time in his career in a regular-season game.Detroit is 27th in the NFL in rushing yards as well. That could be a problem against a Green Bay defense that is better than it has got credit for this season. The Packers are 10th against the pass and 12th in scoring defense and held their last two opponents to a combined 24 points. With a dominant Detroit defense, an underrated Green Bay defense and a struggling Lions offense, the under is the better bet in this NFC North title clash.Follow me on Twitter:Follow @ScottPolacek
