SON, Infinity vow to check influx of substandard tyres

STANDARDS Organisation of Nigeria (SON) in collaboration with marketers and distributors of Infinity Tyres, recently pledged to curtail influx of substandard tyres into the country.At a forum held in Lagos recently, experts blamed major causes of road accidents across the country on tyres that are certified unfit to be on the roads.Some of the tyres, according to those present at the forum, are either purchased as second-hand from abroad or are expired/fake. The event was organised by Infinity Tyres.To ensure more safety on the roads, participants were advised to seek adequate information about the authenticity of the tyres they fit on their vehicles.The tyres, according to experts, also need to be checked for possible cracks, damages, or traces of wear around the body or tread lines of the tyres that are not easily accessible with the human eye.According to the Head, Marketing Department of Infinity Tyres, Mr. Vikas Bahl, the company will continue to engage in social services.
