CAN angry as Sanusi drags Nigeria into Islamic group

WHILE the controversy over the proposed introduction of Islamic banking is yet to abate, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has dragged the country into an Islamic organisation, the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (IILM), based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.In fact, Sanusi has allegedly paid about $5 million (N790 million) to the IILM as Nigeria's contribution.The corporation was set up on October 7, 2010 by the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) after the signing of the Memorandum of Participation by member-countries.
