Ministry pledges support for Lions Club

The Lagos State Ministry of Health has said it will continue to collaborate with the International Association of Lions Club District 404B, Lagos on socio-philanthropy.Speaking at a fundraiser and investiture of the clubs new President, Mrs. Oluwatosin Balogun, on Sunday, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Femi Olugbile, said the major ingredient of change was integrity and commitment.Olugbile, who was represented by the Director of Family Health and Nutrition, Dr. Jemilade Longe, said the ministry would continue to encourage the club in its efforts at helping the less privileged in the society.A member of the club, who represented the District Governor, Mr. Femi Falola, said the club had donated over 1,500 eyeglasses to the people of Ekiti State, N5m worth of relief materials to the Ibadan flood victims in Oyo State and carried out three corneal surgeries which cost about N600,000.Also speaking at the event, Oba of Oworo, Balogun Lawal, advised Balogun to keep up the good work.Balogun said the objective of the club was to take care of the less privileged in the society.A lot of people are suffering. Since God has blessed me, I would rather give out to the needy, she said.The president said her vision was to keep the club growing, advising other district presidents to do the little they could to touch the lives of other people positively.
