THE Ogun State, governor, SenatorIbikunle Amosun, has declared his readiness to support the people of Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government Area in the reconstruction of Ilaro-Owode road as the regent (the Adele Olu of Ilaro) called on him for assistance in the reconstruction of the road in the community.The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Prince Olusegun Adesegun, made this promise on the occasion of 17th edition of Oronna Day celebration and fund raising for the completion of N50 million Oronna Civic Centre project held, recently.While assuring the people of Ilaro of his support, the deputy governor explained that in spite of the fact that the road was a federal road, the government would leave no stone unturned in its reconstruction.However, while responding to the issue of obaship which the people said had long been overdued for installation, the governor explained that there was little the government could do about the installation, stressing that the ball was in the court of the people of Ilaro community.Earlier in his address, the regent expressed happiness over the government's gesture of bringing development to all the nooks and crannies of the state, and, therefore, implored the governor not to relent in his efforts in extending development to the people of Yewa South community.He, however, used the opportunity to draw the attention of the governor to the palace of Olu of Ilaro, the paramount ruler of which he said, was in deplorable situation and called for government intervention for its reconstruction.On unemployment, the regent appealed to the governor to use his fatherly role in providing job for young graduates who were roaming the streets.The chairman of Oronna Day Planning Committee, Chief Wasiu Taiwo, expressed happiness over the success of this year's Oronna Day.He pointed out that Oronna Day was an annual event that attracted people of Ilaro both home and in diaspora to unite to foster the spirit of oneness, good relationship and peaceful co-existence not only among the indigenes but also among the other groups of settlers in Ilaro.According to him, it was an occasion to recognise among the illustrious sons and daughters of Ilaro who had contributed to the socio-politico-economic development of Yewaland. Among those who received award of excellent performance were: Honourable Suraj Ishola Adekanmbi, Alhaji Isiaq Abiodun Akinlade, Adewale Adesina, Babalaje of Ilaro, Chief Abideen Hassan, Financial secretary, Oronna Day Planning Committee.Among dignitaries present at the occasion were: Adele Olu of Ilaro (Regent) Chief Jas Kolawole Oyekan, Aboro of Ibeshe, Oba Joel Bamgbose, Commissioner for Agriculture, Honourable Ayo Oluboro, Honourable Cornelius Edunjobi, Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa.
