SADLY, it was a bloody sallah. The BokoHaram sect, in a distardly act of self-disavowal, had ensured that the break was sullied by the blood of hapless bystanders as they bombed the living daylights out of Yobe, a state which never attracted attention to itself except at times like this. Damaturu, Patiskum and Maiduguri were the theatres of the crimson campaigns which left over 100 people dead in their wake.ONLY terrorism theorists could explain why an Islamic sect would prefer to use such ordinarily inauspicious period to prove any point. It was again a horrific experience but the Nigerian establishment still managed to pull out a stable humour nevertheless. It boldly told the citizens not to panic as the government was on top of the situation although the president could not attend the wedding ceremony of his younger brother. Oh no, not that he was scared of the bombings but being a man of immense circumspection, he could not afford to celebrate amidst such palpable grief!THERE must have been an error somewhere. The spin doctors must have meant that the government was on top of Aso Rock, not the situation.
