Published by Tribune on Tue, 22 Nov 2011

The Olobu of Ilobu in Irepodun Local Government Area of Osun State, Oba Asiru Olatoye Olaniyan, has called on the three tiers of government, local, state and federal to provide them with more social amenities to make their living condition more bearable.Oba Olaniyan stated this at the 2011 Ilobu Day celebrations where substantial amount of money was realised for the completion of the oba's palace and all other uncompleted projects.According to the traditional ruler, the community is in dire need of social amenities, such as good road network, drinkable water, stable electricity supply, establishment of higher institution and cottage industries, construction of drainages towards the prevention of erosion among others. The traditional ruler, however, used the medium to express gratitude to the state governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, the chief launcher, Mr Lasun Yusuf and all his friends that contributed to the success of the eventOba Olaniyan urged parents to take the education of their children seriously because it was the only way to attain greatness in life.In a related development, an indigene of Ilobu, Alhaji Jimoh Olatunji Ademola a.k.a. Goli has felicitated with other sons and daughters of Ilobu on the successful conduct and fund-raising of this year Ilobu Day celebration which was recently held at Ilobu.According to Ademola, since government alone could not do everything, the only way to make Ilobu community more developed was through self-help projects which they had demonstrated by raising reasonable amount of money at this year's Ilobu Day celebrations. He commended Governor Rauf Aregbesola for his performance so far since his inception in office, praying that God would continue to strengthen him as he's steering the ship of this state.
