Group wants ex-Benue gov, Adasu, immortalised

A YOUTH organisation has called for the immortalisation of former Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Moses Adasu at his sixth memorial anniversary.Coordinator of the Movement for the Immortalisation of Adasu, Mr. Anande Neer, made the call at a thanksgiving service at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral in Makurdi.Adasu, the second civilian Governor of Benue State, died in a Lagos hospital on Sunday, November 20, 2005.Neer listed the establishment of the Benue State University, the Federal Medical Centre Apir, as well as the construction of the J.S. Tarka Foundation in Makurdi as some of the notable achievements of the late governor.He said the late cleric was a worthy ambassador of the Catholic Church and enjoined the laity and the clergy of the Makurdi Catholic Diocese not to forget him.The coordinator stated that the present government in the state could immortalise the former governor by naming the state university after him as well as consolidating on the legacies he left behind.
