Osun indigenes charged on community development

Osun State indigenes have beencalled upon to come home and contribute their own quota to the socio-economic growth of the state.Making the call in Lagos recently at the pre-Annual General Meeting press briefing of the Osun Development Association, the Chairman of the association, Professor Olu Aina, stressed the need for collaborative efforts among stakeholders to enable the state harness its abundant human and natural resources.He explained that the maiden Annual General Meeting of the association, scheduled for Osogbo, the Osun State capital on November 25, this year, was in tune with the philosophy of the association and its founding fathers to bring the organisation to the doorsteps of the people of the state.'It offers opportunity to meet and network with key functionaries and stakeholders in the state and raise the bar in drawing attention to key issues in the state,' he stated.Professor Aina lamented that in spite of its immense natural endowments, the state has not been able to make appreciable economic growth, due to lack of capital finance and the enabling environment which government alone cannot provide.He called on the indigenes of the state to support the state government in its bid to drive the economy of the state, adding that public, private partnership would offer a great opportunity to address the critical issue of funding and joint dialogue.
