THE Interim Management Officer inKibiya Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Garba Muhamamd Tofa, has re-affirmed his commitment towards rehabilitation of boreholes in the area, saying he was determined to curtail the acute water shortage in all the wards.Alhaji Tofa stated that the renovation included boreholes that were working with solar energy, as well as the open wells at various locations.He said the council has directed its head of Works, Housing and Transport Department, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Wudilawa, to find out the areas that such boreholes had problem so as to take immediate action.He disclosed this while receiving the delegation of Unguwar-Liman village who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.He also said that water engineers were working round the clock to solve the tap water pipes connection problem from its treatment plant down to Kibiya town, noting that when the work was completed, Kibiya town and its environs will enjoy regular supply of water.He said there was the need to renovate the Unguwar-Liman Friday mosque.The management officer assured that the council would do its best by providing carpets or mats to the mosque.On his part, the Director Personnel Management of the council, Alhaji Ado Hamidu Bayero, revealed that the local government has purchased boreholes materials that would last for the purpose of repairing boreholes including those that were operating with solar power.He assured of the council's workers readiness to join hands with the people of the area to move the area forward, calling on them to always be vigilant on any project executed in the area either by government or through communal efforts.Earlier in their separate remarks, the leaders of the delegation, the Village Head of Unguwar-Liman, Alhaji Shu'aibu Musa and former councilor of Unguwar-gai ward, Alhaji Ado Abdullahi, stated that, they were at the interim management officer's office in order to intimate him with the grounded boreholes in their towns as well as to request for the renovation of mosques in their domain.In another development, the interim officer of the council has urged people of the area to contribute their best towards a virile healthcare delivery.Tofa stated this while assessing the progress of immunization against polio, measles and other child-killer diseases in some centres of the area.He re-affirmed the council's commitment to the exercise as well as routine immunization for pregnant women to check both maternal and infant mortality rate in the area.
