PHCN apologises for power outage in Apapa

Power Holding Company of Nigeria Plc (PHCN), Eko Electricity Distribution Company, has apologized for the prolonged outage being experienced at Apapa and its environs.The Principal Manager, Public Afairs of the company, Mr. Godwin Idemudia, said the outage was due to a major breakdown that occurred on Thursday, 17th November, 2011, after an explosion on the outdoor 132KV circuit breaker controlling the 132/33KV Power Transformers at the Transmission station.Idemudia stated that since then, the Lagos Region Transmission Maintenance crew had been working tirelessly to rectify the problem and restore normal services to Apapa and environ, promising that the outage was expected to be over very soon.He said: 'The repair works have reached an advanced stage and normal services are expected to be restored by the close of Tuesday, 22nd November, 2011. All inconveniences caused by this major disruption of supply are highly regretted.
