N1.34 trillion fuel subsidy: Senate rejects Alison-Madueke's position

NIGERIANS who thronged the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly to witness the public hearing on the controversial fuel subsidy being conducted by the Senate Joint Committee on Petroleum Downstream, Finance and Appropriation yesterday left disappointed as their hopes of getting to the root of the alleged fraud were dashed.Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Allison'Madueke, could not defend the allegedly misappropriation of N1.34 trillion fuel subsidy being investigated. She, however, insisted that fuel subsidy must be removed.Admitting that there was nothing wrong with fuel subsidy in itself, the minister said that the management of the subsidy has failed.
