Bankers football tourney enters semis

The second edition of the Bankers Football Tournament taking place in Abuja enters its semi-final stage this weekend with all four teams in action at the FIFA Goal Project pitch of the Abuja National stadiumTo qualify for the semi-finals, Unity Bank Plc came tops with 12 points from five matches followed by Fortis Micro Finance Bank with 10 points and Fidelity Bank with nine points. Federal Mortgage Bank with eight points make up the semi-final list. In the pairings released by the organisers, defending champions Unity Bank will take on FMB in the first semi-final clash on Saturday while Fortis Micro Finance Bank lock horns with Fidelity Bank on Sunday in the second game.Meanwhile, Unity Bank have vowed that they will retain the title they won last year by beating FMB to reach the final this year. But FMB, who have improved with every match, are determined to cause an upset by reaching the final. Fortis Bank and Fidelity Bank clash look even and either of the two could make it to the final.
