The Edemo family of Ado-Ekiti in Ado Local Government Area of Ekiti State has rejected the recommendations of a committee set up by the traditional ruler of the town, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, on its land dispute with the Baisaya family. The Edemo family, in a letter to the Ewi of Ado, Oba Adejugbe, signed by Chiefs Edemo, J.B. Aduloju; Alaga Agba Oke-Ile, Adeyeye Ojo; Alaga Agba Odo-Ile, Abudu Abugan; Alaga Odo Odo-Ile, Roland Olusomoka and Alaga Odo Oke-Ile, Michael Abegunde, said 'we are using the 'medium to register our total dissatisfaction with the recommendations and approval of your Royal Majesty of the 4th day of November, 2011.'In the letter, also endorsed by the family secretary, Sola Akinlusi; Michael Aduloju, Akin Benard, Olutade Makinde, Oluyemi Aluko, Joseph Olowokere and Sunday Ogunjobi, the Edemo family said the land in dispute was at 'Ago Aduloju and not Aso farm settlement as erroneously stated in the title of the recommendation.'The family in the letter with two titles namely: 'Notice of dissatisfaction with the recommendation and approval of the 4th day of November, 2011,' and 'Request to set aside the recommendations and approval,' stated that they were dissatisfied with the recommendations because 'the findings, recommendations and approval are at variance with the evidence before the panel.'Edemo family said 'there was ample evidence of settlement on the land by our family from time immemorial,' arguing that 'it is clear from the evidence that the judgment of 1954 relied upon by the panel was not produced by Baisaya or sighted by the panel.'They also said 'we have approved layout and perimeter survey of the land which we did years back to the knowledge of Baisaya and which we tendered,' adding, 'conversely, Baisaya family had nothing to tender because it is not their land and yet in the recommendation it was declared that the land which we surveyed years back without objection belongs to Baisaya family.'They claimed that 'there was evidence which was ignored showing that we share boundary with Ijan-Ekiti and we have farm settlements known as Ago Araromi next to Ijan-Ekiti,' and alleged that 'after going through the recommendation we discovered that details of the findings of the panel that visited the land in dispute which favour our family were not contained in the recommendation.'The Edemo family therefore, said 'we respectfully reject the panel's recommendation' and expressed the belief that Oba Adejugbe 'would kindly revisit the report and reverse the recommendation.'Oba Adejugbe had on November 4, 2011, approved a report by a panel on the dispute chaired by Sasere of Ado Ekiti, Chief C.O. Famuagun in which Erunwon of Ado Ekiti, Chief J.O. Aladeloye served as secretary and Chief E. A. Akinyede, Asamo of Ado Ekiti; Chief Elejoka Oke Ewi and Chief Apugbo served as members.
