Ebonyi reigns in wrestling, as competition ends today

TEAM Ebonyi confirmed that it has the best wrestlers in Nigeria when he dominated the event at the Calabar 2011 National School Sports Festival.Ebonyi on Tuesday garnered 12 gold, four silver and five bronze medals to become the overall champion in the event. The team was closely followed by Ondo, which amassed 10 gold, three silver and 13 bronze medals.Anambra also made it to the top three in the event with eight gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze medals while other teams on the medals table include, Lagos, Cross River, Edo and Kano.The home team won the chess event with 16 gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals, while Anambra came second with eight gold, seven silver and 10 bronze medals. Lagos also had eight gold, five silver medals.Lagos ruled the roost in the table tennis event with four gold, three silver and seven bronze medals, while Rivers State dominated in the tennis event with eight gold, one silver and three bronze medals.In the scrabble event, Ondo emerged the overall winner with five gold, four silver and five bronze medals.Just as he had declared open the championship last week the number one citizen of Cross River State , Governor Liyel Imoke will close the tournament today.
