For next movie, Gyang mixes blood and henna

Director Kenneth Gyang's movie 'Blood & Henna' may have just wrapped up shooting, but the project is already on the lips of many industry insiders who have seen portions of it. It is based on the now-infamous Pfizer Trovan drug test case that began in 1996 when a meningitis outbreak in Kano attracted a group of pharmacists from America to offer drugs. The locals didn't know that clinical tests were being carried out on them to test the efficacy of the new drug. 'What I did here was try to tell the story of the lives of two people who fell in love against all odds,' Gyang told Weekend Magazine. 'Trouble starts when the protagonist gives birth to twins, both babies victims of the new drug,' he added. And the story goes on from there.
