Underwater Cities: A Spiritualist's Encounter

Published by Guardian on Sat, 26 Nov 2011

Are there really human beings or human-like beings thriving in a world under the waters of the Earth' CHIDI ILOAMAEKA sought out Mr. Mike Omoleye, a former editor of the defunct Daily Sketch, a veteran journalist, an author, publisher and spiritualist, at his Challenge, Ibadan residence to shed more light on his own encounters as documented in his book, Mystery World Under The Sea.What inspired you to write these accounts on life under the sea' In the case of Madam Hilary Adesina, the Heroine of the story in question, it was a French teacher, my friend, who met her during a train trip between Lagos and Idogo in Ogun State. But the train was overfilled that day and my friend had to scramble with the old woman for a seat and it resulted in an exchange of harsh words. After tempers had cooled, she advised my friend not to be disrespectful to elders. She then narrated how she was a passenger on a boat, Iyalode No. 4, on the Lagos/Ikorodu route which went down in the lagoon on the evening of Sunday, January 25, 1942. But though she went under, instead of drowning, she found herself in a beautiful city under the water. My friend told her he had a friend (me) who would be interested in her story. She agreed to tell her full story. When my friend returned from his journey and told me the story, I said 'it's a lie'. But I went after the story. My friend and I crossed river Yewa and we got to a thick forest where we encountered a different group worshipping a different deity. Unfortunately, my friend had forgotten the woman's name. And we found ourselves in the midst of some worshippers of Ondo deity, who interrogated us thinking we had come to disturb them. But the woman, Iya Obaluaye herself, mysteriously got to know we were in some danger, and though she lived far from where we were detained, she headed for the place. The whole forest vibrated as she approached; she was in her red rob and she held a gong and a staff. My friend and I were scared. But when she calmed down, she looked at my friend and said, 'I have seen you before'. But my friend said, 'no we have never met.' But the woman insisted: 'I have seen you, I know. My deity tells me two boys are looking for me.' Then she looked more closely at us and told my friend 'Are you not the one who quarreled with me in the train''It was then my friend recognized her as the woman we were looking for. She took us to her house to relay to us the incident of her three months under the sea.Do you really believe there is life under the sea'If I believed then, I wouldn't have gone to interview her, but I thought it was mere idle talk. That's the curiosity of a journalist. If they say something happened and you don't get there, will you belief' After the interview with the woman, she wanted us to sleep in her house, but I declined. She then predicted that we were going to sleep at 'Ilaro' in a friend's house. But I said to my self that it was impossible. We had no friend in Ilaro. At that time, the civil war (Biafra) was on, she told us that Odumegwu-Ojukwu was not going to be captured, that he would take refuge in a French country. I never published that in the newspaper for fear of incensing the authorities. She also told me that I would soon ride a car and I said to my self, 'This woman must be crazy' because I was earning very little then. So we hurriedly left her place, took a canoe and crossed the River Yewa and got to Idogo. But we couldn't find any train to convey us home. And, truly, a man who rode on a bicycle stopped by our side where we were waiting for any vehicle and offered to take us to his house to pass the night. He introduced himself as working at Kakadu Hotel in Yaba, Lagos . He told us it was difficult to get a bus or train to our destination. We decided to go to his house for some refreshment. At his house, we waited for vehicle to Lagos to no avail. It was at this point, that we realized that the prediction of the woman was gradually coming true. After waiting till 11.00 pm and no vehicle came, we had no choice than to sleep in the house of this stranger. It was the following day that we arrived back in Lagos as predicted. When the story of this woman's encounter was published in the then Morning Post, the paper sold like 'hot cake'. It was after I resigned at the Morning Post that I published the story in book form. When the book was read by some government officials, they did not believe the story. They traced the woman and found out it was true. They met her face-to-face at Ebute-Igbworo in Ogun State, where she had relocated from Idogo. Some politicians at that time who read the book went in a convoy to confirm the authenticity and saw it was true. Seeing me with the politicians, the woman was happy and welcomed us. She also predicted the imminent death of my younger brother's wife who was pregnant. She also told a friend who also went with us on the same convoy about an imminent death in his family and all those who went there on the convoy for the visit got their own messages. All said and done, she averted the death through some sacrifice she offered. In 1970, just as the woman had predicted, I bought my first car and when you read my book, Mystery World Under The Sea, you will see there is more to life than what we see in the physical. Going by the woman's account and those you wrote in your book, does it mean that all human beings will end up living beneath the sea after death' We can only make deductions. What the woman told me was that the Christians had their own place under the sea, where they live, the same applies to the Moslems and traditional worshippers too. What you should realize is this, we are living in three dimensional world, a place where you have length, breath and thickness. But in another dimension, the fourth dimension, you cannot equate that with the physical word, an abstract world, whether this abstract world leads to heaven, nobody knows.Whether some people will find themselves in a heaven of air, or a heaven of earth, we don't know, but one thing is sure, there is hell. What I gained from the interview with the woman is that there is a place where Christian souls and others go which is under the sea. The woman never slept under the sea, she was always returned to the seashore and returned in the morning. She was not allowed to eat their type of food either, because they said once she tasted it, she would never go back to the upper world. With all the experience you have had, do you think there is really life under the sea'Yes. I believe there is another life under the sea. Go and read the story of the Lost Atlantis. Also, some years ago, scientists from Russia caught a fish-like human beneath the sea with scaly body and the fish-like being said if they failed to release him, disaster would befall Russia '- and it did.Do you have an idea of the location in the sea'They are living in another dimension as I said earlier on, not like physical people like us. Have your heard of the Bermuda Triangle' It is suspected to be part of the lost city of Atlantis. Aeroplanes that fly across the Bermuda Triangle sometimes vanish and the passengers will still be communicating with the Earth. Yet, they cannot be traced. Maybe there is another dimension in the air that sucks up a fully-loaded plane with its passengers.According to the woman's account, under the sea, the sun rises from the West and sets in the East, they live very peaceful life. There is no hardship or death.Did Madam Hilary acknowledge God, the creator of Heaven and Earth'If she didn't acknowledge, how did she recognize the section of Christians, Moslems, and the section of traditional worshippers, which are the three main religions we have in Nigeria. Who do you then think those people '- Christians, Moslems and traditionalists were praying to'Could Madam Hilary have exaggerated or padded the story of her three months experience under the sea'No, she was an innocent, clean-minded woman. You know she was a Moslem before that incident. It was after passing through her experience (under the sea) that she changed her religion. Go and read the story; her parents said she was not going to practise any other religion other than Islam, except 'over their dead body'. But she later practiced traditional religion instead of Islam. Her predictions to me and others who went to her came to pass and the Europeans who came from England after reading the book confirmed it. At the time I interviewed her, she had grand children (she must be dead now) and her people patronized her and built a house for her. If she was fake, would she get as far as that'Is it true, as related in the same book, that some persons are 'abducted' by the whirlwind and brought back with supernatural powers'Oh yes!How come the woman was re-named 'Hilary' under the sea when it is a Christian name' I don't know.Is there any Yoruba oral tradition that connects 'Aja' with Ondo divinity mentioned in your book'You know there are many deities in Yourbaland. There is Oduduwa, Obatala, Igbokun, Ososha, Osun, Aja, Ogun, Ela (the redeemer), Ile (Mother Earth). There are minor deities that have links with human beings to impart divine knowledge. The one that is called 'Aja' is the one that deals with herbalism; it teaches people how to gather leaves and roots to cure ailments. Is Ondo deity still worshipped in Yorubaland today'These deities are still worshiped, but the name 'Ondo' does not mean Ondo town. In Yoruba, the general name for it is 'Aja' that is, 'whirlwind'. Those people we met at the forest on our way to Madam Adeshina worshipped 'Aja' as 'Ondo' deity. In Yorubaland, there are stories of 'Aja' carrying people away and later bringing them back with supernatural gifts.Christians believe there is a place for the just called Heaven, but with all these experiences, where then can we place heaven'Heaven is another dimension. Even if you read the woman's experience under the sea, that place is 'heaven'. The life they live there (under the sea) is not like ours where we have to struggle. They live a peaceful life. So any place where one does not go through all these sufferings we are going through is actually heaven, whether in the air, ocean, or strange forest which is not on the face of the earth, which is another dimension, is heaven.Any link between the taking up of Elijah into heaven and the whirlwind abduction'There is no country that has a monopoly of spiritual powers. So, it is the same God that spread his power to every nation to tap from. What you get in Nigeria you are likely to get it in another country in a manner suitable to their own environment. In the case of Israel, they are very religious. At least, three religions came out of the Middle East, the Jewish religion, the Christian religion and Islamic religion. Every country has its own mythology. Mythology is a story that can not be proved scientifically but which is embedded in the structure of that country. So, if you have whirlwind here and that of Israel is a chariot of fire in other towns or countries, it is the same God that is manifesting in different ways to humanity.Any possible link between Ondo and UFO'UFO is Unidentified Flying Object. The Ondo divinity is similar to UFO. No, we don't have experience of UFO here, even in Africa. It is only overseas that it exists. People take their photographs, they abduct people, take them up in the air using their spaceships and return them because they (humans) cannot live with them. God created all of them and because we are strange to them and they are strange to us, curiosity makes them abduct humans.Having written about mystery world under the sea, what is your advice to people'My advice is to journalists; they should try to go deeper than the surface of this profession. Imagine the number of churches we have today'- it is said that Nigeria has the largest number of churches in the world '- and things are not working properly. Our leaders have to study the spiritual life.Look at late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, he belongs to the Roscicricians, the pace he set for us in the Western region, no state has been able to beat us and that is why it is a challenge to journalists to show the light. Our people need spiritual guidiance. Is it true you found cure for chronic hypertension, stroke and diabetics / hepathitis'I did some spiritual training along with my journalism course. There are schools abroad where you can be trained in spirituality. I have my school in Nigeria , where I train people. The name of the school is 'Divine society' located in Ibadan. I trained at the society of Inner Light, UK. The training they give you there allows you to study your traditional religion, be it Islam, Christianity or traditional religion and it has yielded very good benefits for me. It is the same thing I was taught there that I used to form my own society. I am a Catholic, the society is like trying to know God in various ways. How did you discover the cure'I had hypertension and diabetics for almost eight years. Then one day, after my meditation and prayers, I had a dream where these things were revealed (the cure of these ailments) to me. I never took it serious until one day I visited a friend and saw his aged mother who had stroke. It was then revealed to me by God that what he showed me in the dream would work for the stroke patient and I promised the old woman I was going to get a cure for her ailment. Having prepared it (the medication) I took courage and drank some. Surprisingly, I got relieved. And my swollen body began to return to normal and I became well again. The next day I took some portion to the old woman. Days later, I visited the house and I could not recognize the woman. She had recovered and she told people I was her savior. The efficacy of the herbal product brought a lot of publicity, including the press. I have been in the practice for 27 years now.The late Professor Ojo took two bottles to the University of West Indies and ran a laboratory test ' biochemical analysis'- on the herbal content.Advice our government on herbal issuesThe problem is that we have no government. Before the Europeans invaded the continent (Africa), there was no disease under the Sun that did not have a local herbal cure, including broken bones. Surgical operation of the body was unknown because there were herbal preparations that brought out a child from the mother's womb without surgery. The African governments only need to show some commitment to save the herbal cure from total annihilation. There are diseases which are handled with modern surgery which can be cured with African herbs and roots. Examples are hernia, fibroid, blown fallopian tubes, pile, breast cancer and ulcer to mention but a few. Their herbal remedies are still in existence.I urge the Federal Government to make this concerted effort because only a few rich modern herbal practitioners pass the test of National Agency For Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) policy, while thousands in the remote areas are cut off from modern trend and die with their herbal knowledge.
