A global radio communication equipment distributor, Danimex Communication, has said it will increase its investment in training for the benefit of its business partners in Nigeria. The Managing Director, Danimex Communication, Mr. Hans Becker, who spoke with our correspondent in Lagos on Friday, stated that knowledge transfer would be very critical to the companys 2012 operational focus in the country. He said the company would ensure that its partners were properly trained on latest developments in mission-critical digital radio technology in the world, adding that they would, in turn, be able to train their customers on the new technology."Though, we have yet to develop a budget for 2012, one of our primary targets in Nigeria is knowledge transfer. I want to make sure we train the people that we have and those that we are bringing on board. In addition to that, I want to make sure that all the Nigerian business partners get trained and have their knowledge updated so that they can train their customers," he said.Speaking to hundreds of the companys business partners during one of the training sessions in Lagos recently, Becker reiterated that the aim was to give Nigeria an edge in mastering the latest technological advances being made in radio communication landscape. Speaking further on the importance of continuous knowledge update for Nigerian business partners, Becker said, "Africa is seeing an increase in the use of the latest digital radio technology that provides government entities, particularly internal and external security forces, including the army and police, construction, manufacturing, as well as oil and gas companies with clearer, more reliable communication and the necessary tools to improve communication in the workplace." He advised operators in the critical sectors to embrace digital radio communication technology rather than rely on mobile networks that were often congested. He said, "While trying to contact a driver to pick some people up at the airport, we had to make calls several times before we could get through. "Therefore, you cannot have professionals relying on the mobile networks, which get overcrowded and congested. These are mission-critical people who need to get the job done."Speaking in the same vein, the Country Manager, Danimex Nigeria Limited, Mr. Amos Amao, said the motive behind the training was to sensitise the partners to the planned migration from analogue to the digital platform.Amao, who lamented that the radio communication market was being threatened by grey vendors, said the training would also enlighten the partners against dumping radio communications equipment that customers would not really need on them.He said the analogue radio communications technology, which is widely spread across critical sector of Nigerias economy, was interoperable with the digital version and could be totally replaced with digital in the nearest future.Amao, however, said that it would take about 10 years before the world could completely migrate from analogue technology to digital.Speaking on the importance of the digital radio communications technology, he said, "The digital radio platform ensures greater performance, productivity and backward compatibility with analogue systems. Furthermore, the digital platform provides a future proof investment, ensuring protection of investment in communication technology for years to come, while lowering the total cost of ownership."With the emergence of the digital communication platform, a new era of professional radio technology has arrived. Its enhanced features, such as greater performance, productivity and backward compatibility with analogue systems, make it a cost-effective solution for enterprises operating in noisy environments such as manufacturing facilities."Amao said with a clear migration path, Danimex and its business partners would ensure that the "evolution is both affordable and secure for the end user."
