Students appeal to minister over crisis at Rivers State varsity

STUDENTS of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Nkopolu-oroworukwu, Port Harcourt have accused the management of the institution of deliberately ignoring their plight as victims of the on-going crisis in the University. To them, unless the situation is reversed, their future may be in jeopardy.In a letter to The Guardian, the group of students, who don't want their names mentioned, stated that the University authority's refusal to call the various lecturers of the institution to order had denied them the opportunity of graduating and proceeding for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps scheme for the past two years.'Even those who were due to graduate last year could not because of incessant strikes by the various unions of the University, and the University authority seems to be unconcerned about our plight.'They appealed to Education Minister, Prof. Ruqquayatu Rufai and all well meaning Nigerians to come to their aid. 'Please don't allow the Rivers State University to destroy our future' they pleaded.Several phone calls made to the Vice Chancellor's MTN number for clarification were not picked.
