Group commends Mimiko on development projects

Published by Tribune on Sat, 03 Dec 2011

The newly- inauguratedpatron of Alpha G18, a grass-roots movement in Ondo State, Mr Dele Akerele, has commended the Ondo State government for the visible projects embarked upon across different communities in the state, while also calling on the governor, Dr Mimiko, to do more, especially in industrialising the state.Mr Akerele stated this in Owo, Ondo State recently when he was decorated as the new patron of Alpha G18, a group that projects the problems facing the people of the state so that such problems could be addressed. The patron said one of the problems facing the people of the state was unemployment, adding that despite the fact that the government of Dr Mimiko has done a great job, it should look at ways towards industrialising the state so that more youths, especially those in rural areas, could be adequately employed.'Ondo State is naturally blessed, and we have all the resources to make a difference; we have bitumen and other God-given resources and the government should look at ways towards bringing in investments, which will then translate into job opportunities for the people.'We must acknowledge the fact that the governor is doing well, but more efforts should be put into industrialising the state, and so much still needs to be done,' Akerele said. The new patron then promised that the group, Alpha G18, would continue to bring the problems facing the people of the state to the attention of the government, so such could be tackled.Earlier, the state coordinator of the group, Mr Gbenga Adegun said the group, which has coordinators in all the 18 local governments in the state, would continue to do everything in its powers to protect the interest of the people of the state, while joining hands with the state's political leaders to move the state forward. The coordinator, who had been a member of different political and socio-cultural organisations in the state, promised that the group would not relent in its efforts in bringing the problems facing the people of the state to the fore.
