Ede indigenes urged to assist their community

The President ofFederated Councilof EdeDescendant Union, Mr Dele Adeyemi, has appealed to indigenes of the community to always rise to the need of the towns, stressing thatit is their collective contributions that can bring development to the town .Briefing the press on the 18th Ede Mapo Arogun Day, which comes up tomorrow, he said the essence of the anniversary was to bring development to the community.He explained that the community was planning to raise N1.5 billion to facilitate development programmes in the town .Mr Adeyemi said money realised from the previous launch was spent to facilitate development in the community, adding 'we want to appeal to indigenes of this community to freelydonate generously to the community. We have a lot of projects to embark upon. By February, we want to roof the town hall which has been under construction for a while. We also want to assist indigent students by giving them scholarships.'Speaking further on the programme, the chairperson of the planning committee, Alhaja Basirat Adebayo, urged members of the community to be concerned about the progress of their community and team up with the planning committee in its effort at bringing development to the town .She explained that as part of her efforts to make success of the assignment given to her, she ensured all the invited guests to the event gave their commitment that they would be present at the occasion, adding she said she did that, so that it would not look as if the organisers of the event were only dropping names.Alhaja Adebayo who is the head of administration in Egbedore Local Government said she had also ralliedthe support of all the local governments to assist Ede community, stressing that Ede North and Ede South had been given the task , while Egbedore will also assist in a modest way .
