Records 30 per cent sales growthTOYOTA Nigeria Limited (TNL) on Wednesday in Lagos formerly unveiled the 7th generation (2012) Camry as part of strategies to sustain customer loyalty across the country.Managing Director TNL, Mr. Chandra Thampy explained during the colourful ceremony in Lagos that the introduction of the 2012 Camry was in line with the 'Customer First philosophy of Toyota Motor Corporation', adding that its 'aimed at continually connecting with the ever growing tastes and desires of our customers by introducing models that are at par with current trends in the world markets'.Thampy added that the company is always encouraged to push the frontiers of technology to the benefit of all stakeholders in the industry, pointing out that owners of the new Camry will discover an excellent on-road performer.' In totality, with its improved aesthetic endowments over its predecessors and its contemporaries, the new generation Camry is a well packaged auto invention, an assemblage of what truly constitutes the hallmarks of luxury in motion, a symbol of corporate and stately presence that exudes and personifies the confidence of its owner'.According to Thampy, Toyota has further acceleratedthe quality of its after sales service delivery as well as improve upon response time in all aspects of the business as part of measures to grow the confidence level of customers.In his presentation, TNL General Manager in charge of marketing, Mr. Bayo Olawoyin, went down memory lane by tracing the origin of Toyota Camry to 1982 when it was first manufactured.While explaining the various innovations behind the new Camry, Olawoyin said it is currently being manufactured in nine factories in eight countries.According to Olawoyin, the 2.4 litre engine has been upgraded to 2.5 litres and from 5-speed to 6-speed while a 3.5litre variant is also available for the Nigerian market.Speaking further Olawoyin explained that the new Camry has also increased in length with 10mm and 5mm in width.The new Camry boast of nine airbags, keyless entry, cruise control, noise insulation material to prevent outside noise, touch screen audio system, three zone independent air control among others.Meanwhile, TNL said it recorded 30 per cent sales growth between January and November this year with a pledge to maintain its leading position in the Nigerian market.Executive Director of TNL, Mr. Kunle Ade-Ojowho disclosed thisrecently in Lagos attributed the achievement to the strong performance recorded in the commercial vehicle segment.Ade-Ojo said TNL targets to sell about 19,000 vehicles before the year runs out, adding that the company recorded strong sales performance in the passenger segment where the Toyota Corolla has maintained the lead in its segment.'Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has been able to quickly recover from the Tsunami. Compare to last year we have grown by about 30percent due to strong performance in the commercial vehicle segment', said Ade-Ojo.According to him, TNL has maintained unbeatable after-sales, which have kept it on top as the market leader in the nation's auto market.He explained that part of the reason for Toyota's success is that the company is ensuring that right products are brought into the Nigeria.'There are products which we are selling that are not in other markets. What Toyota does is ensuring that the right products are sold in the Nigerian market,' he stated. Information made available explained that the 2012 Toyota Camry offers improved versions of last year's engines: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V6.According to the auto firm, both engines also join a six-speed automatic transmission to deliver better fuel economy.Also, suspension improvements have been made to enliven the Camry's handling dynamics.
