NMA Holds Medical Skills Workshop

CHAIRMAN of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Edo State chapter, Dr. Phillip Ugbodaga has said the Skills for Africa Medical Workshop which began yesterday, is a direct response to the NMA's fear that Nigeria may not achieve its health related millennium development goals in 2005.Ugbodaga told The Guardian yesterday at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), venue of the event that the workshop would help to build the human capacity of Nigerian doctors and other medical personnel who are involved in the programme.He said the event, which is making its debut, was to form a strong and virile partnership between Skill for Africa Coalition, a U.S based non-governmental outfit, Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Europe (NIDOE) and the Edo NMA, toward organising programmes to train doctors in various fields of medicine.The Edo NMA boss also noted that it would encourage exchange programmes between the partner organizations.
